Like all other families world wide there have been good and bad men and women who have held the Boase surname. Here are just a few of the more interesting ones.

Charles Boase: B. *** in Mousehole was one of the 14 men who set out to sail to Australia on the Cornish Lugger the Mystery. (link to Mystery site)  Charles eventually returned to Cornwall and lived out his life in his home county.

Henry Boase: 1827 – Banker and Mayor of Penzance
Founder of a large Boase family which now has links on every continent.  It is this line which established businesses in Dundee manufacturing Jute.

John Josiah Arthur Boase: Magistrate in Penzance and member of the town council

Francis Boase: Mayor of Penzance in 1867

Thomas Sherrer Ross Boase: 1898 – 1974 - Second director of the Courtauld Institute and scholar of the Art of the Crusades.

Wendy Boase: born Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 14 October 1944; married 1979 John Vigurs; died London 15 March 1999. WENDY BOASE, founding editor of Walker Books.

Alan Martin Boase: 1902 – 1982 Marshall Professor of French Language and Literature from 1937 until 1966.
